A beautiful, well-detailed glimpse of Antwerp, portrayed at the time it was a great commercial center prior to the Spanish Fury, and while it was home to the illustrious mapmaker Abraham Ortelius. It is the first of two views of the city that appeared in Braun & Hogenberg’s Civitates Orbis Terrarum.
