Intricately engraved map of Savoy and the Piedmont featuring the Republic of Genoa, the Renaissance economic power. In the beautiful allegorical cartouche, putti representing Armenia, Sardinia, Jerusalem and Corsica offer crowns to a queen representing Genoa herself. Mars and Mercury attend a merchant scene, alluding to Genoa’s military and commercial power and the prosperity derived from it.
