12 ¾ x 18 ¼ inches, Original outline color; faint foxing at edges, trimmed to image at top, else excellent.

A very attractive, polar-projection world map, surrounded by five maps illustrating three other projections.  The unusual projection of the primary map gives particular emphasis to the oceans, especially the Pacific.  The lovely cartouche illustrates the world of feminine beauty with four figures representing the continents, supplemented by frolicsome mermaids flanking Aphrodite in a boat with doves. From Malte-Brun's Atlas Complet. The map was engraved by Chamouin, and Giraldon was the typography engraver.
