14 ¼ x 19 ½ inches, Fine hand color; some marginal spotting, else excellent condition.

An animated, minutely detailed bird’s-eye view of Venice, depicting its architectural landmarks as well as a great variety of shipping, both commercial and for transportation. St. Mark’s cathedral and piazza can be seen just left of center. In the center along the lower margin, a procession of the Doge and various dignitaries is illustrated. Flanking this illustration are 153 numbered entries keyed to the view listing mainly palaces and churches. The city’s 35 principle canals are also listed in a separate table. On the verso is a manuscript description in an early hand of Venice.
