The very scarce first state of a landmark English map of Europe. The map is beautifully framed by vignettes along three borders, including views of London, Paris, Rome, Constantinople, Venice, Prague, Amsterdam and Lisbon in the top border. The side border illustrations show figures of various nations in characteristic dress. Represented are an English woman, a Venetian, a German, an Hungarian, a Spaniard, a Flemish woman, a Belgian, a Bohemian woman, and a Greek. The map was published in the first English atlas of the world.
